Prithviraj Sukumaran at Vanitha Film Awards 2012

Prithviraj’s on A Song

Prithviraj doing playback singing might not be news anymore, but the lyrics of his song in director Deepan's upcoming Malayalam flick Hero is sure to create a lot of buzz - for, it is almost in tune with the actor's basic nature.

We hear that the song, Tarzan Antony Coming Back to Cinema, has the Raavanan actor in a playful mood answering allegations thrown at his character in the flick. The number is composed by Gopi Sunder.

"Initially, there was no idea of getting Prithvi to sing. But when the lyrics were set, Deepan felt that it would be good if Prithvi rendered it. We felt that the song was much in tune with his basic nature," Gopi explains. This is the second time Gopi is getting Prithvi to sing for him, the last being Anwar. "The last time he went behind the mike for me, he declared that he would never sing again. But now, he's back as the lyrics caught his fancy," Gopi says. Looks like the people who have been witness to the massive hate campaign against the star can now look forward to a vindication of sorts from his side.

P(l)ayback time, Prithvi?

Indrajith: Having fun at work

With a jam-packed schedule of shooting for five films in the last three months and another six still on the cards, you might think that actor Indrajith would be close to his burnout point. But the truth is quite the contrary.

In fact, the actor, who is currently shooting for Amal Neerad's Bachelor Party, is in high spirits and having a whale of a time at that. He thanks his co-stars for the experience.

It's a wild and freaky film and there is hardly a moment when we're not having fun, he says. We've shot in Munnar and Kochi, and when you are working with jovial people like Kalabhavan Mani and Vinayakan, it's a chilled and relaxed atmosphere.

The actor is also excited about the flick, which also stars Asif Ali, Rahman and Prithviraj, as it once again promises the director's signature touch. His films always present its heroes with so much style and elan, and Bachelor Party is no different, he adds.

Incidentally, Indrajith's next venture Husbands in Goa also features a young, fun-loving cast and is set in Kochi and Panaji. His role of a docile husband in it would be one among the several humorous characters that he would be playing this year, he beams, adding, My comic roles have always reached out to the audience.

Despite the large number of roles that he is bagging and overlapping schedules, the actor says that he has never had the difficulty in transforming into his required character while facing the camera.

Though he rues that his schedule is causing him to miss out on quality time with his children, he says, In Malayalam cinema, you are forced to be versatile because you do six to eight films a year and you have to be mentally prepared to adapt accordingly.
